Former NFL star Darren Sharper faces two counts of rape as an actor in Los Angeles , police said on Saturday .Sharper 38 , was arrested Friday afternoon by the Los Angeles Police
Department 's sexual assault section of its robbery - homicide ,
according to LAPD spokesman Sally Madera .The Miami Beach , Florida , resident has been " linked to two sexual
assaults in western Los Angeles " that allegedly occurred in October
2013 and this month , according to an LAPD news release .Sally said accusations of California Penal Code 261 ( a ) ( 30 ) . about involving rape " in which a person is prevented from
intoxicating substances or refused by the anesthetic , or controlled
substance , and this condition is known , or should have been known by
the accused .Sharper was released from jail after posting a $ 200,000 bond before midnight Friday , said Madera . He had to appear before a judge on February 14 to the charges ,
according to county jail records . Sharper is also being investigated
for sexual assault that allegedly occurred in New Orleans on September
24 , police spokeswoman Remi Braden said New Orleans on Saturday.As
with every case of alleged sexual assault , the information collected
is very sensitive and the top priority of the detective is to protect
the person who filed the complaint , " said Braden . " Because this is
an ongoing criminal investigation , we can not provide additional
information on at this time .Sharper , defensive back , became an analyst for the NFL Network after injury forced an end to the 14-year playing career . Network Sharper suspended without pay after the arrest , a spokesman told the media on Saturday .Sharper pro football career began as a second -round draft choice by the Green Bay Packers in 1997 . After eight seasons with the Packers , including a loss to Denver in
Super Bowl XXXII , he moved to the Minnesota Vikings for four years .He signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2009 , which led to the ring first Super Bowl that season . Injuries
